About Me
I’m a former 9-5 corporate veteran. who got out of the trenches after 10 years in digital media advertising in NYC. Over the years, I’ve worked on Fortune 500 global brands, including five Super Bowl campaigns for famous chip brands.
I’m a second-generation Korean-American. My home cooking is based on memories that ignite specific flavors and storytelling from each dish.
I always had a fascination for food and cooking. It started with cooking shows on PBS when I was a kid. That was right before Food Network existed. While I didn’t grow up in the kitchen, I explored more cooking when living alone in NYC. I craved home-cooked Korean meals so I took it upon myself to learn how to make them. My sister gave me tips over the phone on how to make my favorite soups and stews. Maangchi was also an inspiration for getting my feet wet in Korean cooking.
And with a bit of practice, I started to venture into making my dishes according to my taste preference.
Why Basic Sunday
Basic means fundamentals and simplicity. Sunday means Sunday Scaries.
Basic Sunday Cooking was created to offer a calm, kind, and positive vibe for all. Cooking shouldn’t feel daunting or intimidating.
