Rinse and drain your potatoes and remove any rotten ones
1 lb baby potatoes
Parboil the potatoes for 5–7 minutes, until just slightly tender. Drain well and set aside.
Make the sauce and set it aside
3/4 cup water, 2 tbsp sugar, 4 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp minced garlic
In a shallow pan, add cooking oil and drained baby potatoes. Pan-fry the potatoes for 5 minutes on medium-heat.
Add the sauce, bring it to a boil, then cover and let it simmer for 15–20 minutes. Liquid may reduce - that's fine!
Turn off the heat. Drizzle in the corn syrup and mix well. The sauce will become glossy and may thicken slightly as it cooks.
1 tbsp corn syrup
Drizzle sesame oil, sprinkle roasted sesame seeds and black pepper. Enjoy!
