Creamy Tteokbokki Recipe
A great alternative to the spicy rice cake dish! Very simple and quick to make, enjoyed by adults and kids
Ingredients
- 1 cup Fresh or frozen rice cake
- 1 1/2 cup Whole milk Can use heavy cream as an alternative for a creamier taste
- 4-5 strips Bacon, chopped
- 3 tbsp Onions, chopped
- 2 tsp cooking oil (optional) add if there's not enough bacon grease to cook the onions
- 1/4 cup shredded cheese can use sliced cheese
- black pepper
- salt
Instructions
- Soak frozen rice cake in cold water for 10 minutes. Skip this step if using fresh rice cakes1 cup Fresh or frozen rice cake
- Chop onions and bacon4-5 strips Bacon, chopped, 3 tbsp Onions, chopped
- Cook bacon in a pan4-5 strips Bacon, chopped
- Add chopped onions and saute until translucent3 tbsp Onions, chopped
- Add more cooking oil if needed2 tsp cooking oil (optional)
- Add milk and stir1 1/2 cup Whole milk
- Add salt to tastesalt
- Add rice cakes and keep stirring
- Cook until rice cakes are soft and tender
- Turn off the stove and add cheese1/4 cup shredded cheese
- Top off with black pepperblack pepper
