Creamy Tteokbokki Recipe

A great alternative to the spicy rice cake dish! Very simple and quick to make, enjoyed by adults and kids

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Fresh or frozen rice cake
  • 1 1/2 cup Whole milk Can use heavy cream as an alternative for a creamier taste
  • 4-5 strips Bacon, chopped
  • 3 tbsp Onions, chopped
  • 2 tsp cooking oil (optional) add if there's not enough bacon grease to cook the onions
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheese can use sliced cheese
  • black pepper
  • salt

Instructions
 

  • Soak frozen rice cake in cold water for 10 minutes. Skip this step if using fresh rice cakes
    1 cup Fresh or frozen rice cake
  • Chop onions and bacon
    4-5 strips Bacon, chopped, 3 tbsp Onions, chopped
  • Cook bacon in a pan
    4-5 strips Bacon, chopped
  • Add chopped onions and saute until translucent
    3 tbsp Onions, chopped
  • Add more cooking oil if needed
    2 tsp cooking oil (optional)
  • Add milk and stir
    1 1/2 cup Whole milk
  • Add salt to taste
    salt
  • Add rice cakes and keep stirring
  • Cook until rice cakes are soft and tender
  • Turn off the stove and add cheese
    1/4 cup shredded cheese
  • Top off with black pepper
