How to Make Kimchi Fried Rice

A South Korean comfort dish that's sweet, spicy, and savory. Try kimchi fried rice any day and time!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Green onion, sliced
  • Spam, bacon, pork belly, or mushrooms. Chopped
  • 1 cup Kimchi, chopped add more or less, if needed
  • 1 cup Cooked rice add more or less, if needed
  • 1/4 tsp Sugar add more or less, if needed
  • 1/2 tsp Gochujang (Red pepper paste) add more or less, if needed
  • 1/2 tsp Soy sauce add more or less, if needed
  • 1 tsp Sesame seed oil add more or less, if needed
  • 1 tsp Cooking oil
  • 1-2 tbsp butter optional but I always use it for this recipe

Method
 

  1. Drizzle on cooking oil and butter onto a large pan
    1 tsp Cooking oil, 1-2 tbsp butter
  2. If using mushrooms, saute for ~5 minutes. If using raw meat, cook fully. If using Spam, add after sauteeing the kimchi (next step)
    Spam, bacon, pork belly, or mushrooms. Chopped
  3. Add kimchi and saute for 3 minutes
    1 cup Kimchi, chopped
  4. Add sugar, gochujang, and soy sauce. Mix well.
    1/4 tsp Sugar, 1/2 tsp Gochujang (Red pepper paste), 1/2 tsp Soy sauce
  5. Add rice and mix until well incorporated with the rest of the ingredients
    1 cup Cooked rice
  6. Drizzle on sesame seed oil
    1 tsp Sesame seed oil
  7. Garnish with green onions
    1 Green onion, sliced

Notes

  • For more than one person serving, double the recipe depending on how many people you're cooking for
